Elgin apartments are beautiful. The diversity and culture, as well as an interesting history make Elgin a wonderful place to live. The friendly neighborhood atmosphere of this city of nearly 106,000 people makes one feel welcome - whether you're new to the area or a long-timer. Being one of the fastest growing cities in Illinois does not take away the natural beauty of the area that attracted the first settlers. Being on the Fox River holds some of its attractiveness, but also being bordered by the 4,200 acre Poplar Creek Preserve and hosting two highly protected Illinois Nature Preserves have
an impact as well.
Bluff Spring Fen and Trout Park, the two Elgin Nature Preserves, are quite unique in their plant varieties, with the Fen a marshland featuring gorgeous orchids, and the Park forested with beautiful trees and rare species such as witch hazel and arborvitae. Both parks are definitely worth a visit, with trails and picnic areas. With over sixty parks in the city to visit, including several golf courses, Elgin apartment-ites have no excuse not to get out and enjoy some fresh air.
The school systems, U-46 School District and District 301 are excellent. Elgin High School (in U-46 District) has quite a reputation for producing incredible students. Five navy admirals, a Pulitzer Prize and a Nobel Prize winner, two academy award winning producers, one Tony award winner and several Olympians have graduated from there.
History and the arts are another draw to Elgin. The Elgin Public Museum is the oldest building built expressly for a museum in Illinois that is still used expressly for that purpose, and many historical homes are preserved in the city for viewing. The Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the Elgin Choral Union and the Elgin Community Theatre are a few of the performing arts, with artists performing at the Hemmens Cultural Center, and visual art displayed at the Elgin Art Showcase.
As you can see, having an Elgin apartment is a beautiful thing!
