Oakton Community College, as well as several public and private schools grades k-12 are available for education in Des Plaines. The awesome library with over 265,000 books, DVDs, CDs and magazines offers a large variety of programs for children and adults.
Lake Opeka is a small lake with an 18 hole golf course on its western shore, and sand volleyball pits, picnic areas and trails with exercise stations are at Lake Park, and is convenient to Des Plaines apartment-ites. Fishing and water sports are also allowed. The Des Plaines Park District itself features 37 parks, three swimming pools, and over 300 park and recreational events, many of them taking place at Lake Park.
